FISHING IN HORSESHOE BEACH
Horseshoe Beach has an abundance of sea trout, red fish, sheephead, cobia, mackerel, grouper, and black tip shark.
The shell fish are blue crabs, stone crabs, oysters and scallops.

Scallop season opens July 1 and is a big draw for Floridians until it ends Sept. 10.
Horseshoe beach offers some of the best scalloping in Florida. Last year 2007 the season opened with a bang. The scallops were everywhere, so grab your snorkle and mask and jump in.......for 2008
Scallop Limits:
Whole Scallops: two gallons per person per day, or ten gallons per boat

Stone Crabs: Stone Crab season opens October 15 and runs thru May 15.
It is unlawful to use any device on the taking of stone crabs that can puncture, crush, or injure the crab body, such as spears, grains, grabs, hooks, or similar devices
Maximum of five (5) stone crabs traps per person as described in the summary of stone crab trapping:

Stone Crab limits:
Claw must be 2 3/4 inches, No females with eggs, Bag Limit: 1 gallon of claws per person or 2 gallons per vessel, whichever is less.
